SEND - PARENTING- SUPPORT

Hi, I'm Anne-Marie, Founder of Katie Walker Parenting Support.  I originally published my parenting support book under the pen name Katie Walker to protect my family's privacy while sharing my work publicly.  As the community grew into coaching and parent support, Katie Walker became a part of the business brand, while I continue to work as Anne-Marie, the professional behind the brand. If you already know me as Katie, don't panic, you'll probably hear me use both.

I am a Behaviour & Family Support Professional also a mum of three neuro-spicy children who has the passion to enable other parents to feel heard, valued and supported.

Professionally and educationally I have achieved plenty;

- Working experience within the local authority and mainstream schools as home school link and family support professional, specialising in family and behaviour support strategies.

 - Therapeutic story writing practitioner working with children on emotional regulation and understanding self. Also, social workshops with children to address social and communication difficulties.  ELSA classes, such as lego therapy and art therapy classes.

- Working alongside EBSA within schools and Local Authority parenting practitioner.

- Health & Social Care degree with a focus on autism, counselling and child development.

- I decided to further embark on a Masters Degree with a focus on community, mental health and interventions.

- As a parent of three neuro-spicy children I have attended courses on NVR, PDA, Autism.

- Working with families who have children with ASD/ADHD/PDA teaching interventions and behaviour strategies that really do work (after filtering through all the mainstream, text book misconceptions).  Empowering parents by creating care plans to advocate for the children's needs within professional meetings and requesting reasonable adjustments.

With first hand parenting experience of three neuro-spicy children at home, professional experience within schools/local authority and various education qualifications, I am very excited to meet you and offer help in areas that it is really needed.

Behaviour support;  Empowerment within a broken system; Parental well-being (when you are last on a very long list).

Finally, support that matters, that can start today.

I take great pride in leading the effort to transform the dynamics of professional interactions with parents, with the goal of diminishing parental judgment, blame, and discrimination associated with raising a special needs child.

 I am thrilled to provide tailored support to families who have long sought it but have been overlooked.

You may feel isolated but you are never alone. Here is a non judgemental space to feel valued, heard and understood.

" It was very clear from the first few minutes that you totally understood our situation after years of struggling we are so glad that we have found someone help us!  A huge weight has been lifted, having a strategy that actually makes sense for our daughter moving forward.  Thank you so much! "

"I had a care plan designed for me. I felt very understood and supported.   She has saved me hours and written / noticed things I would never have thought about. When you are living the experience you forget how many allowances you make. I was given real life examples so I could easily relate, using my own examples of actual behaviours helped us brainstorm how to manage them. Thank you"

" I felt so seen and validated.  All of my concerns were genuinely understood even all of the moments that the rest of the mainstream world doesn't see. There are no words to express how grateful I am for your time and knowledge to help me understand PDA and prepare myself for a school meeting.  Thank you".
