Katie Walker

I am a Behaviour & Family Support Professional also a mum of three neuro-spicy children who has the passion to enable other parents to feel heard, valued and supported.

Professionally and educationally I have achieved plenty;

- Working experience within the local authority and mainstream schools as home school link and family support professional, specialising in behaviour support strategies.

- Therapeutic story writing practitioner to work with children on emotional regulation and understanding self. Also, social workshops with children to address social and communication difficulties.  ELSA classes, such as lego therapy and art therapy classes.

- Health & Social Care degree with a focus on autism, counselling and child development. I decided to further embark on a Masters Degree with a focus on community, mental health and interventions.

- As a parent of three neuro-spicy children I have attended courses on NVR, PDA, Autism.

- Working with families who have children with ASD/ADHD/PDA teaching interventions and behaviour strategies that really do work (after filtering through all the mainstream, text book misconceptions).  Empowering parents by creating care plans to advocate for the children's needs within professional meetings and requesting reasonable adjustments.

With first hand parenting experience of three neuro-spicy children at home, professional experience within schools/local authority and various education qualifications, I am very excited to meet you and offer help in areas that it is really needed.  Behaviour support;  Empowerment within a broken system; Parental well-being (when you are last on a very long list).

Finally, support that matters, that can start today.

I take great pride in leading the effort to transform the dynamics of professional interactions with parents, with the goal of diminishing parental judgment, blame, and discrimination associated with raising a special needs child. I am committed to paving the path towards a more promising future for SEND parents and caregivers.  I am thrilled to provide tailored support to families who have long sought it but have been overlooked in other spheres of society.

You may feel isolated but you are never alone. Here is a non judgemental space to feel valued, heard and understood.

" I always feel heard and comfortable to open up to Katie.  It is very helpful to receive a summery of the recommendations after the session and Katie does everything in her power to help.  Katie has a natural talent for this and I would highly recommend Katie to others with neuro diverse children. "Katie wrote a care plan for me. Katie is so understanding and supportive.  She has saved me hours and written / noticed things I would never have thought about. When you are living the experience you forget how many allowances you make. Katie talked me through everything and gave me real life examples so I could easily relate. Thank you"

" Katie validated all of my concerns and genuinely understood all of the moments that the rest of the world doesn't see. There are no words to express how grateful I am for Katies time and knowledge to help me understand PDA and prepare myself for a school meeting.  Thank you".
